PURPOSE:A slip-proof material that is obtained by adding fibers of specific properties to a matrix of rubber or synthetic resin and allowing the fibers to project their top ends from the matrix surface over a specific density. CONSTITUTION:Organic or inorganic fibers of less than 3mm length, satisfying equation: E>=1X10<3> and d<=0.1 where E is tensile modulus in kg/mm<2> and d is diameter in mm such as glass fibers, metal fibers or aramide fibers are mixed with a matrix such as rubber or synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride to form a sheet so that the fibers are allowed to project their top ends from the matrix surface at a density of 10<4>/(E,d) per 1mm<2>. The resultant product develops its slip-proof properties against tile surface wetted with water or ice surfaces. It is applied to floors or soles of footwear.
