PURPOSE:To send an original from the first line even when subscanning is performed manually by changing over the 1st mode sending sequentially a signal of a main scanning line read at first and the 2nd mode sending sequentially a signal of a main scanning line read finally. CONSTITUTION:After a picture signal from an image sensor 12 is converted into a digital signal in a CPU 43 by an A/D converter, the result is inputted to an address converting circuit 45. The address conversion circuit 45 converts the read address of a picture memory 46 storing an inputted picture signal based on the signal from an automatic/manual subscanning discriminating means 41. In case of the automatic subscanning, the picture signal stored in the picture memory 46 is read from the signal of the main scanning line read at first by a picture read section 1 in the same order at the write and in case of the manual subscanning, the picture signal is read from the signal of the main scanning line read finally by the picture read section 1 is the order opposite to the time of writing 48.
