PURPOSE:To open titanium compound fiber efficiently and sufficiently without damaging qualities of the fiber and to obtain the titled fiber having improved fiber configuration, by immersing mass of bundle aggregate of titanium compound fiber in a medium, subjecting the mass to ultrasonic vibration. CONSTITUTION:Mass of bundle aggregation of titanium compound fiber such as initially formed phase titanium compound fiber [K2(Ti,M')2O3] obtained by melting method, etc., is immersed in medium such as water, hot water, subjected to ultrasonic vibration, etc., and opened. Preferably the ultrasonic vibration is impressed generally at 300-1,200W output.
