PURPOSE:To improve spinning properties and to prevent end breakage during spinning, by subjecting a polyester having an end hindered with a specific sulfonate compound to high-speed spinning. CONSTITUTION:A polyester having an end at least partially hindered with a sulfonate compound shown by the formula (A is ester-forming functional group; R is H, or OH, alkyl, or halogen; M is metal; n is 1 or 2) is subjected to melt spinning. End breakage during high-speed - ultra-high speed spinning at >=3,000m/min-<9,000m/min is reduced and the spun yarn has improved physical properties of fiber and improved spinning properties at high speed - ultra-high speed.
