PURPOSE:A sheet of a thermoplastic synthetic resin laminated with a sheet of felt and they are set to a mold for compression molding and a sheet having a heat-sensitive adhesive layer is placed on it to effect press molding to produce a formed carpet of high sound insulation and shape retention. CONSTITUTION:A sheet of a thermoplastic synthetic resin 22 such as polyvinyl chloride, which is laminated with felts 31, 32 on desired positions, is set on the bottom tool 42 of the press mold 4 so that the surface to which felts have been applied comes on the bottom side. Then, a carpet 1 having a heat-sensitive adhesive layer 2 is set thereon so that the adhesive layer comes on the bottom side and press molding is effected using the top force 41 to give a formed carpet 10 with a projection on its center part 1A. This process is very useful, when a formed carpet for car floor, such as for automobile is produced. |
