Novel prostaglandin analogues of the general formula: (I) wherein the ring P represents one of the groups: (a) (b) (c) the symbol A represents -CH2-CH2 - or cis-CH=CH-; the symbol B represents-CH2 -CH2 - or trans-CH=CH-; R is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a cation; R1 is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 represents a straight chain alkyl radical selected from methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl and hexyl; R3 is hydrogen or methyl; R4 is hydrogen or methyl; and R5 is hydroxy or R4 and R5 taken together represent an oxo group are disclosed, together with processes for their preparation. The new compounds have luteolytic, antihypertensive, bronchodilating and anti secretory activity. |
