PURPOSE:To provide a liposome useful as an oxygen adsorption and desorption agent, oxygen transfer transfusion, etc., having prolonged life of oxygen complex compared with conventional product, by clathrating an iron (II) porphyrin complex to a liposome composed of a phospholipid material containing an amide- type phospholipid. CONSTITUTION:The objective phospholipid liposome can be produced by clathrating an iron (II) porphyrin complex such as the compound of formula II (k is integer of 1-18) in a liposome composed of a phospholipid material containing one or more amide-type phospholipids having >=1 amide bond in the molecule, e.g. the sphingomyelin of formula I (R<3> is 1-21C straight-chain hydrocarbon group). The phopholipid liposome of the present invention enables the extremely stable exhibition of the reversible oxygen adsorption and desorption by the oxygen partial pressure difference of the clathrated iron (II) porphyrin complex, and the elongation of the oxygen complex life compared with conventional product. The life can be further prolonged by the addition of other phospholipid (e.g. yolk lecithin) to the amide-type phospholipid. |
