PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency by composing so that the direction of the vibrating trace of a vibrator substantially coincides with that of the trace of the contactor displacement of an article. CONSTITUTION:A flange 11 is provided at a ring-shaped rotor 1, the flange 11 and a vibrator 2 are contacted by a contacting portion 9 to form a vibration wave motor. In this case, the direction of the vibration generated at the vibrator 2 is perpendicularly crossed to that of a linear line 10 for connecting the portion 9 of the article (rotor) 1 frictionally contacted with the vibrator 2 with a fulcrum 8 of an elastic unit for forming the flange 11. (When the portion 9 moves at the fulcrum 8 as a center, the moving direction is made substantially coincident to the vibrating direction generated at the vibrator.) Thus, the vibration generated at the vibrator 2, the rotor 1 frictionally contacted, an the contacting surface of the vibrator 2 are not slide to prevent the loss. |
