PURPOSE:To enable high quality printing even to paper to be transferred having low surface smoothness, by using a thermal transfer ribbon successively having sealing ink lines and intrinsic thermal ink lines on one surface of a base film. CONSTITUTION:Before intrinsic (normal) thermal ink lines 3 are transferred to thin paper to be transferred, sealing ink is preliminarily transferred so as to provide sealing ink lines 2. By transferring the sealing ink to the paper to be transferred at first by melting the same under heating by a thermal head, the sealing ink is allowed to be penetrated in the valley parts of the grain of the paper to form a smooth surface layer. After the smooth surface layer by the sealing ink was preliminarily formed to the paper to be transferred, intrinsic thermal ink is successively transferred on said surface layer to form the thermal ink lines to make it possible to perform high quality printing having glossiness regardless of the smoothness of the paper to be transferred. |
