PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the occurring quantity of ozone without spoiling the separability of transfer paper practically, by performing AC corona dielectrifying on the top section of transfer paper and periodically performing the AC corona destaticizing on the other section of the transfer paper at intervals. CONSTITUTION:A mechanism 15 for detecting the top of transfer paper 15 is provided on the transfer paper introducing side of an AC corona charger 9 for separating transfer paper 6, to which toner images are transferred, from a photosensitive drum 1 and another mechanism 16 for detecting tail end of transfer paper is provided on the sending-out side. In addition, a control mechanism 18 for controlling the turning on and turning off of an AC power source 17 to the AC corona charger 9 by using the detecting signals of the detecting mechanisms 15 and 16 is provided. The control mechanism 18 stores destaticizing patterns corresponding to transfer paper sizes and periodically performs on/off control of the power source 17. The mechanism 18 alternately provides non-destaticizing sections 14a,14b,... and destaticizing sections 13a,13b,... on the transfer paper 6 except the leading edge section 12. Therefore, occurring quantity of ozone can be suppressed to a remarkably small quantity as compared with conventional AC corona destaticizing separating method. |
