PURPOSE:To raise the magnetization starting temp. of an electroless nickel- plated film and to obtain the titled magnetic disk with less noises due to magnetization by forming a surface treating film with the electroless nickel-plated film contg. at least one kind among Mo, Nb, Ta and W in the magnetic disk consisting of a nonmagnetic substrate, the surface treating film and a magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:The crystallization temp. is raised to raise the magnetization starting temp. of an electroless nickel-plated film. For the purpose, metals such as Nb, Mo, Ta and W are dissolved into the electroless nickel-plated film to realize an amorphous state even at high temps. From one to 20% at least one kind among Nb, Mo, Ta and W is dissolved into the film in accordance with the composition of a plating bath and the crystallization temp. can be elevated by 5-10 deg.C at every 1wt%. Besides, the bath becomes unstable and is decomposed at >=20%, the crystallization temp. is increased in proportion to the concn. at >=1% and the effect is small when a trace amt. is added.
