PURPOSE:To make drawing and editing possible throughout a screen by setting a command area in accordance with an input request message displayed on a CRT and using set and registered commands to set a screen layout. CONSTITUTION:A command input part 103 takes out a command stored in a memory 100 and displays the input request message on the CRT 108 through a display control part 107. When a user inputs data from the keyboard of the CRT 108 to set the center position and the size of the command area in accor dance with the input request message, a command table indicating the command name and the area is registered in a memory 102 by a command registering part 104 and is displayed on the CRT 108. The table registered in the memory 102 is referred to input patterns by a pattern input part 105. Graphic commands are registered in a graphic registering part 106 and are displayed on the CRT 108. Thus, drawing and editing are performed throughout the screen.
