PURPOSE:To improve the operability when a variable power copy is taken beyond a specific range by dividing and displaying input copy magnification as plural magnification values when the input copy magnification exceeds the specific range. CONSTITUTION:The 1st coordinate corresponding to an original size are inputted with a light pen or ten-keys 101-110 and then the 2nd coordinates corresponding to a desired copy size are inputted to calculate copy magnification by dividing the 2nd coordinates by the 1st coordinates. It is judged whether or not this calculated copy magnification is within the variable power range of a machine and the magnification is displayed when within the range. When the magnification is not within the range, on the other hand, the square root of the calculated magnification is calculated to check whether or not the original is copied completely by performing the copying operation separately twice and when so, the variable power rate with which a single- time copy is taken is specified as the copy magnification of the 1st copying operation and the value obtained by dividing said copy magnification by the calculated magnification is displayed as the magnification of the 2nd operation. Thus, when the magnification is not within the specific range, the magnification is displayed as plural magnification values, so the magnification of the 2nd or succeeding operation need not be calculated and the operability is improved. |
