PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of an input/output processor by identifying all input/output devices having a usable channel path for input/ output start, starting all the corresponding input/output processors and using an input/output processor started fastest. CONSTITUTION:When a processor IP0 or IP1 recognizes an input/output instruction, the input/output processors IOP0-2 required for the execution of said instruction are started via buses 60-65. The input/output processors IOP0-2 send a start successful signal and a start failure signal via buses 66-68. The input/output processor reporting fastest the start success is used to start the input/output device to withdraw the start to the other input/output processor. The overhead of the processor used for the input/output instruction is reduced and the operating efficiency of the input/output processor is improved at failure of start. |
