PURPOSE:To reduce occurrence of black spots, and to enhance sensitivity, contrast, and blackness density by using 2 kinds of monodispersed silver halide emulsions specified in average grain size for a photographic emulsion layer and incorporating a hydrazine deriv. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer contg. at least 2 kinds of monodispersed emulsions each having an average grain size diameter of <=0.5mum and different from each other by >=0.1mum is formed on a support, and a hydrazine deriv. is contained in said emulsion layer and/or other constituent layers. It is preferred that one of said 2 kinds of emulsion has an average grain diameter of >=0.3mum, and the other <=0.3mum, and the difference between both is >=0.1mum, and the former is mixed in an amt. of 40-90 wt.% of the total, thus permitting high image density and high image contrast and photographic characteristics of negative gradation of sufficiently ultra high contrast to be obtained, while high sensitivity can be retained and occurrence of black spots can be restrained.
