PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having an excellent moisture resistance by coating a core component composed of a copolymer obtd. from a mixture of methacrylic acid methyl ester, a specific methacrylic acid ester and a copolymerizable vinyl monomer in a specific compounding ratio and being stretched it to specific times, with a sheath component having a refractive index lower than that of the core component by a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The mixture composed of 50-90 wt.% methylmethacrylate, 9-40 wt.% more than one kind of monomers composed of cyclohexylmethacrylate, phenylmethacrylate and isobornyl methacrylate and 1-10 wt.% copolymerizable vinyl monomer is polymerized. The obtd. copolymer is performed a melt-spinning, and is streached to 1.2-2.5 times. The core component is coated with the sheath component of the polymer such as a fluorinated alkyl ester of methacrylic acid and having the refractive index lower than that of the core component by >=1 %. By constituting the fiber as mentioned above, the titled fiber having the excellent moisture resistance and a good balance of the various characteristics and suitable for a wiring for an automobile use, is obtd. |
