PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN N-SUBSTITUTED CARBAMOYL-LACTAM COMPOUND

N-substd. carbamoyl-lactam compds. are prepd. by reacting a polyol and a lactam-blocked polyisocyanate in the liq. phase in the presence of a metal compd. catalyst. The catalyst pref. contains a Gp. IA metal or is a Lewis acid. Polyol is pref. a polyether polyol, polyester polyol, polybutadiene polyol or a combination of these. The prods. are useful as activators in the reaction injection molding of nylon. The reaction proceeds quickly at a low temp. with no polymerization of the lactam.
