发明名称 METHOD FOR RECOVERING PLATINUM FROM FUEL CELL
摘要 PURPOSE:To recover Pt from a used phosphoric acid type fuel cell contg. Pt supported on C by a dry process without using aqua regia or a reducing agent or requiring the treatment of waste water by heating the combustion residue of the cell. CONSTITUTION:Pt, P, Si, Al, Fe, Ca and Mg have been detected in part of a used fuel cell as a sample by a spectroscopic qualitative analysis, and about 2.41wt% Pt content and about 2% ash content have been given by a quantitative analysis. The sample is burned at about 900 deg.C for about 5hr in an electric furnace while a small amount of O2 is blown. The resulting combustion residue is slowly cooled and put in an alumina crucible, and while O2 is blown from the top of the crucible at about 10ml/min rate, high frequency induction heating is carried out in the air to melt Pt. SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, Fe2O3 and MgO rise to the upper part of the crucible by the difference in specific gravity between the oxides and Pt, so the oxides can be separated from the molten Pt.
