PURPOSE:To restrain vibration of an engine in a simple structure by disposing balance weights moving rectilineally in parallel to a piston on outside crankshafts of the first and third cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Outside crankshafts of the first and third cylinders are respectively provided with eccentric shafts in the opposite directions, and balance weights 14, 15 are moved to reciprocate rectilineally in the opposite directions from the respective eccentric shafts in parallel to the cylinder array through respective connecting rings. The center points 5, 6 of the eccentric shafts are set in such a manner that the center 5 of the eccentric shaft is positioned at an angle of theta+90 deg. on the first cylinder side, and the center 6 of the eccentric shaft is positioned at an angle of theta-90 deg. on the third cylinder side with respect to angular position of the second cylinder. The weights of respective balance weights 14, 15 are set in such a manner that the inertia couple produced by the balance weights 14, 15 is equal to the inertia couple produced by a 3-cylindered engine. |
