NEW MATERIAL:A physiologically active substance J79 having following physical and chemical properties and presumptive structure of the formula: description; white powder, solubility; hard soluble in water, insoluble in 1:1 volume ethanol-water mixture, insoluble in chloroform, average molecular weight; about 20,000 (according to gel filtration method); coloring reactions; positive to phenol- sulfuric reaction, Molisch's reaction, anthrone-sulfuric acid reaction, Negative to Lowry method, IR; characteristic bands at 3,400, 2,930, 1,640 and 1,000-1,100cm<-1>, UV; terminal absorption. USE:It is used as a carcinostatic agent with high activity and safety. PREPARATION:Streptomyces sp. J79 strain (FERM-8161) is cultured, preferably by liquid cultivation under aerobic conditions at 20-37 deg.C. |
