<p>PURPOSE:To prohibit assistant energizing action by sensing abnormality even though the output condition has appeared in a torque sensing means despite no steering being made from the driver in the event of an abnormality such as discontinuity of wirings in the steering device or noise induction to the signal line. CONSTITUTION:When a steering wheel is rotated to rotate a steering shaft 7, torque is impressed on a torsion bar 21 installed between the shaft 7 and a pinion 22. Then a full 7b with which a spherical member 37 is engaged, is dislocated to move a ring-shaped member 31 in the axial direction. An electrode plate 27 made of iron is fixed to this ring-shaped member 31 at its one end, while electrode plates 26, 28 are arranged in front of and behind the former named electrode plate 27, and each of these electrode plates constitutes a capacitor. A magnetic substance sensor 29 is installed at a place facing the electrode plate 27 in order to judge whether the steering torque is zero from existence of output from the hole element of said sensor 29.</p> |
