PURPOSE:To obtain the titled Cu alloy having resistance to fouling with sea weeds as well as superior erosion-corrosion resistance by adding prescribed amounts of Sb and Al to brass having a specified composition so as to inhibit the dezincification corrosion of the brass while leaching out copper ions for a long period. CONSTITUTION:This corrosion resistant Cu alloy for marine use consists of, by weight, 20-37% Zn, 0.01-0.09% Sb, 0.10-0.5% Al and the balance Cu. In the composition, the Al content is <=5 times the Sb content. The Cu alloy has superior resistance to fouling with seaweeds, corrosion and erosion-corrosion, superior hot workability and strength, so its is suitable for use as a material required to avoid fouling with organisms in a marine environment or an apparatus handling seawater such as a material for the grating of a water intake, a fish preserve, a steel pile cover or the shell of a ship.
