The aim and object of the invention is to provide a method which is suitable for producing openings in moulded sheet-metal parts, which openings have cut edge angles deviating from the normal to the surface and are of arbitrary spatial position and shape, and ensures clean cut edges and a relatively low heat input into the moulded sheet metal part. According to the invention, the object is achieved when the laser beam, as known per se, impinges at an angle deviating from the normal relative to the surface, the lancing hole is positioned remote from the outer contour of the opening to be cut by at least the notch width, firstly the deeper lying outer contour with the obtuse cut edge angle is produced on the side opposite to the side where the laser beam is active, thereafter the opening is produced by linewise dissection accompanied by infeed movements in the direction of the opening width in the region of the two-fold focal distance a, and the last infeed movement for producing the higher lying outer contour with the acute cut edge angle alpha is not larger or is only insignificantly larger than the notch width. <IMAGE>
