PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance by constituting a protective layer to be provided on the surface of a layer of gold-silver-copper compounded to prescribed ratios. CONSTITUTION:The protective layer is constituted within the range of the target expressed by (75, 10, 15), (75, 4, 20), (60, 30, 10), (60, 10, 30), (40, 45, 15), (40, 15, 45) in the ternary phase diagram of gold-silver-copper in the case of providing the protective layer on the surface of the magnetic layer of a disk on which information can be recorded. The protective film is formed by sputtering at about 100 Angstrom /min speed in an Ar atmosphere kept under, for example, 5X10<-3> Torr. The corrosion resistance and wear resistance are thereby improved.
