For adjusting the operating parameters of a spinning machine having a plurality of spinning stations, an independent spinning station, which is provided with its own drives and with means for adjusting its operating parameters and on which the operating parameters are fixed and then transmitted to the spinning machine, is provided. The independent spinning station contains a device for recording at least one yarn value, the signals of which are entered in a control which contains a computer and which controls the means for adjusting the operating parameters of this spinning station. A plurality of settings of the operating parameters, the said settings differing from the basic setting initially set for starting, are implemented, and the yarn values of the yarn spun in each setting are recorded and compared with one another and/or with predetermined values.
