Plough-path measuring devices are used to determine the location of a plough at the face. To protect the equipment and accurately record the plough location, a synchronising device is provided in which in each case two non-contacting proximity switches (3, 4) provided with effective areas offset in each case by 180 DEG are arranged at the locations to be recorded which are at least partly crossed by the plough, which proximity switches (3, 4) are connected to an electronic analysing system connected downstream. <IMAGE>
