Distributing apparatus for piece goods with a plurality of parallel storage tracks, a common distributing track which is assigned to the storage tracks at their front ends and has a transverse conveyor which is arranged in the distributing track and is equipped with a conveying means which can be raised by means of a lifting mechanism above the path of motion of the piece goods on the distributing track. A distributing track of this type is to be improved in order to reduce the technical outlay and increase the number of piece goods distributed. This object is achieved in that the transverse conveyor has a set of running gear which can be moved below the transport means of the distributing track in the longitudinal direction of the said means. <IMAGE>
