PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor which is small in size, light in weight and low in cost and has high sensitivity by using the 1st, 2nd and 3rd crystals having respectively specific lattice constants for a common substrate, magneto-optical element and electrooptic element. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-optical element 1, electrooptic element 4, polarizing element 2 and wavelength plate 5, etc. are provided on the common substrate 6. The 1st crystal consisting of a rare earth garnet compd. Gd3(ScxGa5-x) O12(1.19<=x<=1.59) having the lattice constant a0 is used for the substrate 6. The 2nd crystal consisting of the rare earth garnet compd. (BiyGd3-y)Fe5 O12(0.53<=y<=1.40) having the lattice constant coinciding with the lattice constant a0 of the 1st crystal is used for the element 1. The 3rd crystal consisting of the electrooptic crystal (KzNa1-z)Ba2Nb5O15(0.70<=z<=0.98) having the lattice constant coinciding with the lattice constant of the 1st crystal or integer times said constant or an integer fraction thereof and belonging to a tetragonal crystal is used for the element 4. The provision of the small-sized elements on the common substrate is thus made possible without sacrificing sensitivity.
