A clamping device for roof rack systems is described, in which systems a roof rack support can be placed on a rail body and can be pressed against the rail body by means of a claw body attached to the said roof rack support. The claw body takes the form of a clamping clasp which is mounted in a pivotable fashion in the roof rack support and can be brought into its locking position with elastic deformation and when a maximum of deformation has been passed through, the said clamping clasp in the said locking position clamping against the rail body a further claw element which can be pivoted about another pivot in the roof rack support and engages round the rail body from the side facing away from the roof rack support. In this manner, the roof rack system which is distinguished by an impact-resistant and shock-resistant connection to the roof rail, can be mounted and/or dismounted without additional tools by means of a simple manual operation.
