In order to achieve the electric-shock protection for cable plugs, said plugs are surrounded by a metallic protective housing. In order to test that they are free of voltage, these cable plugs have a capacitive measurement point. At this point, the protective housing is intended to be designed such that the measurement point can be reached quickly and easily and no parts need be removed. For this purpose, a protective housing is proposed having a metallic flap (6) which can be pivoted about an axis and is supported at the end by two housing half-shells (2) and (3). During connection of the two half-shells (2) and (3), the flap (6) is inserted in such a manner that it is mounted in a moving manner such that it cannot be unhooked. <IMAGE>
