A process and a pressing apparatus for producing juice from a fruit mash, which pressing apparatus has screen belts conducted through rinsing water and which is furnished with a discharge for the pomace or the like resulting from the fruit mash are intended to enable an optimum pressing result with favourable water usage. For this purpose, the pomace, in a mixing device, is continuously mixed at least with the solids residue of the fruit mash withdrawn from the rinsing water and mashed, whereupon this secondary mash is subjected to a continuous secondary pressing process. The apparatus used therefor is distinguished in that a shredding device (70) for the pomace (T) is assigned to the discharge (59) of a screen belt press (10) and this shredding device is connected to a mixing vessel or is integrated into this, the discharge of which is connected upstream of a continuous press (80). In addition, the shredding or mixing vessel (70) should be arranged downstream of the solids discharge of a separating device (60) of the rinsing water circulation (K). <IMAGE>
