A dental adhesive with a wide variety of uses contains as main component the condensation product of two parts of a hydroxyalkyl methacrylate and one part of a bis(chloroformate), in particular the condensation product of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and triethylene glycol bis(chloroformate) of the formula <IMAGE> as well as 2,2-bis[4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl]propane and, where appropriate, a polymerisation initiator, polymerisation accelerator and/or UV absorber; together with inorganic fillers it can also be used as dental restoration material.
