In apparatus for securing a flexible printing plate to a printing cylinder a locking element engages the controlling edge of a flexible printing plate and is pivotal in use between a locking position in which the printing plate is tensioned and a release position in which the printing plate can be fitted or removed. Biasing means is provided with over-centre action spring means for urging the body into the locking position and the release position depending upon the position of the locking member.
