PURPOSE:To monitor the corrosive property and scaling property of water by monitoring concns. of Ca ions, carbon dioxide and hydrogen ions in water and the water temp., calculating the saturation index and/or the stabilization index of water from the detected values and displaying the result. CONSTITUTION:The concns. of Ca ions, carbon dioxide and hydrogen ions in water and the water temp. are detected to calculate the saturation index and/or the stabilization index of the water from the detected values and the result is displayed. The corrosion property and scaling property of water are thus monitored. An acid and an alkali are injected to maintain the calculated saturation index and/or the stabilization index within the range of previously inputted set values (namely, -0.5-+0.5 for the set values of the saturation index and 6.0-7.0 for the set values of the stabilization index). Namely, the correcting operation of the water quality is quickened while following up the change in the quality of untreated water, and the scaling troubles, the flowing out of red water from a steel pipe due to corrosion and the dissolution of concrete components can be avoided.
