The present invention provides a dual aperture ultrasonic transducer probe assembly for diagnostic imaging which uses a reed switch (184), located in an electrically shielded interior space in the probe housing and operated by a magnet (164) located external to said shielded interior region, to change the focal range of the transducer (152) without physically interrupting the shielding.
