PURPOSE:To flocculate efficiently unwashed sludge by a flocculant and to dehydrate the sludge by adding a porous inorg. additive and a high molecular flocculant to the sludge, mixing, forming flocs and dehydrating the flocs. CONSTITUTION:A porous inorg. additive consisting essentially of 50-56% CaO, 20-30% SiO2, 7-10% Al2O3 and 4-10% SO3 and a high molecular flocculant are added to the unwashed sludge of septic tanks, crude sewage sludge, digested sludge and crude night soil sludge each having >=5,500ppm alkalinity and mixed. The formed flocs are dehydrated. Namely, by the joint use of the inorg. additive and the high molecular flocculant, washing which is required in the conventional process can be dispensed with, flocculation is carried out rapidly and remarkably, the dehydrating property is extremely improved, dehydration is efficiently performed with inexpensive chemicals and the inexpensive filter and the cake of small water content can be obtained.
