The filter comprises a vertically suspended, flexible, tubular sleeve of porous material, e.g. a tube of textile fabric. The cross section of the sleeve can be closed off to form the bottom of a container into which the slude is poured for draining. An outlet for dehydrated sludge which can be opened in the botto of the container has a max. passage cross-section equal to the full cross-section of the tubular sleeve. The sleeve is extended below the level of the container bottom and closure of the container bottom outlet is by folding, compressing, clamping or otherwise deforming the sleeve portion extended below the container bottom. The bottom level of the container is pref. marked by internal and external, rigid reinforcing rings between which the sleeve is clamped. Sleeve extension below the reinforcing rings is carried first vertically downwards and then folded outwards and back upon itself to form an annular pocket around the sleeve. The outer edge of the pocket forms a border attached to a mobile support ring; rotation of the mobile support ring relative to the reinforcing rings will open and close the bottom outlet of the container. The drained sludge can be discharged via a simple, full-flow valve with a passage cross-section equal to the container cross-section. |
