PURPOSE:To obtain high dimensional accuracy, abrasion resistance and durability, by a method wherein open pore parts of a silicon carbide base sintered body which is a porous body having open pores and obtained by sintering in a predetermined shape substantially without any shrinkage on firing are filled with a resin. CONSTITUTION:The silicon carbide base sintered body which is a porous body having open pores and obtained by sintering in a predetermined shape substantially without any shrinkage on firing is used as a base material. The open pore parts of the instered body are filled with a resin to obtain a composite body. As the resin, at least one selected from an epoxy resin, a polyimide resin, a triazine, resin, a polyparabanic acid resin and the like is used singly or in combination, in an amount of at least 10pts.vol. per 100pts.vol. of the open pores. The sintered body preferably has an average crystal particle diameter of not larger than 5mum and a density of 1.4-2.6g/cm<2>. |
