PURPOSE:To prevent surface contamination of molded product caused by dust and oily components, by applying uniformly a solvent solution of alkyl silicate containing a specified trace amount of Si to the surface of molded product, followed by drying. CONSTITUTION:A solvent solution of 2-18C alkyl silicate having an Si content of 0.05-0.0003wt% is applied uniformly to the surface of molded product consisting of thermoplatic resin, thermosetting resin, metal and inorganic mate rial, followed by drying. Formed alkyl silicate film prevents surface contamina tion due to dust and oily components, etc. The alkyl group of the alkyl silicate should pref. be a secondary alkyl group. When two or more alkyl silicates are used, at least one of them should pref. have a secondary alkyl group. The treatment is done by coating or interweaving.
