PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of an ultraviolet rays irradiator without interrupting the ultraviolet rays radiation output of high-pressure discharge lamp and the reduction of temperature of irradiating faces by using a reflector having a constitution that the transmissive characteristics of infrared rays are differentiated and ultraviolet rays are reflected from a place having much distribution to reflection of light of the lamp to a place having less distribution to the reflection of light. CONSTITUTION:A reflector 2 consists of a front reflector 11 as a place having less distribution to the reflection of light of high-pressure discharge lamps facing each other on both sides of an irradiating the and a reflector 13 ad a place having much distribution to the reflection of light of the lamp 1. In the front reflector 11, a multi-layered interference thin film 15 formed by alternately laminating a layer having high refractive index and a layer having a low refractive index by vapor deposition is formed on the inner surface of a base material 14, having a narrow reflecting zone on ultraviolet rays and a low transmissivity of infrared rays. In the rear reflector 13, a multi-layered interference thin film 17 formed by alternately laminating a layer having a high refractive index and a layer having a low refractive index in about 60 layers by vapor deposition is formed on the inner surface of a base material 16, which is capable of more effectively reflecting ultraviolet rays over wider range than the reflector 11 and also of allowing permeation of infrared rays.
