Class 103(2) A motor vehicle door Figs. 1 and 2, comprises inner and outer metal panels 16, 18, joined by a bottom flange 21 forming a well 20 provided with drainage openings 34, the inner panel 16 having openings 38, 40, for the insertion and maintenance of the door lock and window regulator mechanism, a horizontal slot 48 below the openings 38, 40, a flexiible water-resistor non-metallic sheet 60 having a tongue 62 at its bottom edge passing through the slot 48, the other edges of the sheet being secured to the panel 16 by adhesive tapes 64, 70 and a trim panel (not shown) secured over the sheet 60 and panel 16 by spring clips engageable in openings 74, 76 in the panel 16. The slot 48 is provided in am embossed portion 44 of the panel 16 joining embosses surrounding the openings 38, 40. An open-ended channel 52, provided with drainage openings 56, is welded to the panel 16 and the embossed portion 44. Water which enters the well 20 at the window slot is normally drained at 34 but should those openings be clogged, the water will be retained in the well and splash out of the openings 38, 40. However this water is redirected by the sheet 60 and tongue 62 into the channel 52 from whence it drains, at 56, into the well 20: |
