An aircraft is described having rotatively driven blades cooperating with an electrochemical power supply system for operating an electric drive system. The blades provide cooling heat transfer for the lithium peroxide fuel system for the purpose of effecting suitable separation of the lithium hydroxide monohydrate in a filter/plenum chamber forming part of the power supply system. In one form, the cooling is effected by disposing a heat transfer portion of the power supply system in the path of the air flow generated by the propulsion blades of the aircraft. In another form, the cooling is effected by circulating the electrolyte through the propulsion blades. The molarity of the electrolyte is maintained by separating the precipitated lithium hydroxide monohydrate in solid form in the filter/plenum chamber and adding a new hydrogen peroxide solution from its reservoir. |
