Novel 3-piperidinyl-1,2-benzisothiazoles and 3-piperidinyl-1,2-benzisoxazoles having the formula <CHEM> wherein X is O or S and Q is a radical of formula <CHEM> or a radical of formula <CHEM> the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and possible stereochemically isomeric forms thereof, which compounds have antipsychotic properties; pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds as an active ingredient and methods of preparing said compounds and pharmaceutical compositions.
