<p>Composite materials are made comprising a matrix of a thermosetting or thermoplastic plastic or an elastomer, contg. one or more layers of reinforcement made from yarn and/or filaments based on aromatic polyamides such as poly-para-phenyleneterephthalamide which have been subjected to a (pref. mechanical) surface treatment such that the yarn or fibres are fibrillated. The thermosetting polymer matrix is e.g. of epoxy resin, polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, phenolic resin, etc. The thermoplastic polymer matrix is e.g. of polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyether sulphone (PES), polyether imide (PEI), polyimide (PI), polyhexa-methyleneadipamide (nylon 66), poly-E-caprolactam (nylon 6), poly-E-dodecane-carboxylic acid (nylon 12) or polycarbonate (PC).</p> |
