PURPOSE:To prevent water leakage from inside a pump caused by an decrease in a tightening pressure of a gasket by providing a deformation absorbing mechanism which devides a cylindrical wall at the outer diameter of a cooling chamber and connects the divided walls with bellows for absorbing thermal deformation of a casing cover. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical wall at the outer diameter of a shaft enclosing cooling chamber 7 is divided at the vicinity of a gasket 4 and bellows 9 are disposed between the divided walls. Thus, when a water temperature in a pump changes abruptly, the wall of the cooling chamber 7 which is located nearer to the inside of the pump than the bellows 9 is thermally deformed due to the temperature change. However, since a casing cover 2 is divided with the bellows 9, a casing cover portion (an outside diameter portion of the gasket 4) which is tightened to the casing 3 with bolts is thermally deformed following to the thermal deformation of the casing 3. As a result, even if the water in the pump is subjected to a temperature change, the pressure applied to the tightened face of the gasket 4 does not change to keep airtightness of the gasket 4 so that the water in the pump is prevented from leaking to permit the pump to operate safely.
