PURPOSE:To view a freely magnified television screen by giving a transparent liquid crystal plate reproducing a television picture image from a video signal and an optical system magnifying and projecting the television picture image on the screen. CONSTITUTION:The transparent liquid crystal plate 3 is approached to a light source 2 by a back and forth drive device 23, whereby the projected picture image on the screen 5 is magnified. On the other hand, when the transparent liquid crystal plate 3 is approached to the side of a lens 4, the projected picture image is reduced. Accordingly as the screen, a wall, a ceiling and a window glass in a house are sufficient, which is an advantage. If the screen 5 is made semitransparent, the projected picture image can be viewed from the front and back of the screen 5. Moreover the forward lens 4 can be directly viewed as a conventional television receiver does.
