PURPOSE:To enable discharge only in the vicinity of the hollow outlet of a main electrode surface by supplying an electrolyte aqueous solution containing gaseous particles having a low dielectric breakdown strength from the hollow part of a main electrode, and carrying out machining at a voltage having above said dielectric breakdown strength. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte aqueous solution 12 which is jetted out from a hollow main electrode 11, contains gaseous particles 17 having a low dielectric breakdown strength which are atomized by means of a gaseous body atomizing mechanism 14, and is jetted out continuously or intermittently from the hollow part outlet of the main electrode 11. Under this condition, a DC or an AC voltage is applied across the main electrode 11 and a subsidiary electrode 2, increasing its value gradually. When the electrolytic strength E in the vicinity of the main electrode 11 is increased reaching the dielectric breakdown strength of the gaseous grain 17, discharge takes place among the gaseous grains, reducing a current I rapidly. The outer peripheral surface of the main electrode is covered by bubbles 16 resulting from electrolysis, which functions as an insulating layer, allowing discharge to take place only in the vicinity of the hollow outlet of the main electrode surface. |
