PURPOSE:To produce a protection film free from defects such as cracks on the surface of a fluorescent layer, by using a nitrocellulose having high average polymerization degree and broad distribution of polymerization degree as the material of the protection film. CONSTITUTION:The substrate plate 2 having the fluorescent layer 1 is immersed in water, a solution of nitrocellulose is dripped on the water surface to form a thin film 7 of nitrocellulose, and the water in the water-tank 3 is discharged to laminate the nitrocellulose thin film 7 on the surface of the fluorescent layer 1. The nitrocellulose used in the above process has an average polymerization degree of >=1,000 and broad distribution of the polymerization degree.
