PURPOSE:A water-seal mechanism is set between the coal gasifier and ash hopper in a pressure vessel to allow the water-seal mechanism to absorb the difference in thermal expansion between the pressure vessel and the gasifier whereby the pressure resistance and thermal expansion resistance are improved. CONSTITUTION:A gasifier 2 surrounded with water-cooled walls 3 is set inside the pressure vessel 1 and simultaneously an ash hopper 5 is fixed beneath the gasifier 2. A water-seal mechanism is provided between the gasifier and the ash hopper 5 so that, e.g., double section rings 8, 9 are set on the top end of the ash hopper 5 and the space between the rings are filled with water and another ring extending downward from the bottom end of the gasifier is inserted into the space.
