PURPOSE:To improve coating adhesiveness and welding operability by mixing a prescribed percent of metallic manganese powder, containing a specific weight percent of active oxygen, into a coating material. CONSTITUTION:An 1.0-20wt% metallic manganese powder containing a 0.05-0.40wt% active oxygen, is added to a coating material to blend them. When <1.0% blending, the oxidation of a weld metal and the adding of alloys are insufficient; when >20%, the metal is remarkably made brittle and its weldability is made worse. When the active oxygen content in the metallic manganese powder is reduced to <0.05%, the generating rate of cracks in the coating layer and the coming-off rate of the layer are deteriorated, to make the coating adhesiveness worse. Further, when the active oxygen in the powder exceeds 0.4%, the color tone of the powder becomes unstable, to make the welding operability worse by the generation of spatter and blowhole, etc. Accordingly, the coating adhesiveness, color tone and welding operability are all improved by this method.
